What's your History?
The BVB 1909 Cuba Fans Club is the dream of a group of friends who came together in 2019 with the idea of experiencing Borussia Dortmund's matches with the same intensity and passion that the 25,000 fans from the south stand of the “ Westfanstadion ". On October 10, a very special date for Cubans, we decided to found the Borussia Dortmund family in Cuba. Since then, and without even thinking of becoming an official fan club, just for the love that moved us, we support together every weekend our players. On May 5, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic that was hitting the world and had forced us to abandon our daily activities, we received the news of the officialization of the fanclub. We can never put into words the emotions and happiness experienced by this huge family at precisely a very difficult time for all of us. Today, even from home due to Covid-19, we follow our team with a love and pride that is only increasing.
Why do you love BVB?
More than 8 thousand kilometers away, on a small island in the Caribbean, also lies the yellow and black feeling. Sentiment that crosses borders and that conquers, in Cuba, children, women, men and even families. Many of us come for that reason, genetics, family inheritance, others for the simple taste of football, but the vast majority of our fans, young people conquered by the brilliant and captivating football displayed by Jürgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund. Yes, we all agree on something ... It is not only about victories and titles, it is about passion, true love. Borussia Dortmund, for us it goes beyond our club, it is our life.
What's your most memorable BVB-Moment?
Despite the short time we have been founded and the constant threat of the pandemic, from which, we like the rest of the world, have not been exempt, the Fans Club BVB 1909 Cuba has lived memorable moments. Our first meeting, that October 10, 2019, when we were barely seven followers; the news of the officialization of our fanclub; see our Cuban flag in the Westfalenstadion made of Lego, thanks to the talent of Joe Bryant, an English boy of just 12 years old. The victories achieved by our own soccer team, the BVBCuba, in the “Interpeñas tournaments" in Havana also count, and a lot. Undoubtedly, each of those moments will always remain in our memory, although of all of them, there is nothing that compares to that time when, together with the Inter Milan fans, we experienced Borussia Dortmund epic comeback against the Nerazurros , on November 5, 2019 for the fourth day of the group stage of that UEFA Champions League. That day, when Cuba Yellow Wall exploded with excitement in the 77th minute with that goal from our Achraf Hakimi, which put 2-3 on the scoreboard to complete the historic feat, will be unforgettable.
