9 league matches. 3 cup matches. 12 wins. 87 goals scored. 0 goals conceded.

The first half-season in the history of the Borussia Dortmund Frauen was a resounding success. Die Schwarzgelben sit atop the Kreisliga A with 27 points, winning all nine of their league matches by scores ranging from 3-0 (against a scrappy BV Viktoria Kirchderne side) to 15-0 (against BV Teutonia Lanstrop). In between those matches, they won all three of their Kreispokal matches (by a combined score of 20-0) to advance to the semi-finals (where they will face Wambeler SV).

While the team takes a well-deserved winter break, here are 09 stats about the BVB Frauen’s goal-scoring exploits:

1) Across all competitions, left-winger Vanessa Heim leads the club in both goals scored (14) and assists (10). This is thanks to her team-leading five goals and five assists in the Kreispokal.

2) The team leader in goals in the Kreisliga A is 17-year old striker Hannah Goosmann. She has 12 goals and four assists. She ranks second in the league in goals behind SF Ay Yildiz Derne’s Sarah Dabdoub (14 goals).

3) Right winger Ann-Katrin Lau scored in ten straight matches (across all competitions) to start the season. She scored a total of 13 goals (her 10 Kreisliga A goals rank fifth in the league) and assisted four more (all in league play).

4) Central midfielder Luisa Bergmann has scored two goals in 764 minutes this season. Naturally, those two goals came just seven minutes apart. Bergmann, in charge of nearly all set pieces for the team, is tied for the team lead in assists in league play with six (along with Virginia Glänzer) and has one more in the Cup.

5) Speaking of Glänzer, she has mostly started at center back but has also started as a full-back when needed. Then against TuRa Asseln she played on the wing—and had a 2-goal, 3-assist game. Gina has four goals and six assists in the league (and one more assist in the Cup).

6) Ana Zabell has scored the most opening goals with four. She scored the first BVB Frauen goals ever in both the Kreisliga and Kreispokal. She has a total of 11 goals (five in the Cup) and four assists (one in the Cup).

7) The team had to play a total of 66 minutes short-handed (after second-half red cards against BV Viktoria Kirchderne and SV Körne 83). In those 66 minutes, they scored four goals (or one every 16.5 minutes). Again, this was when they were a player short.

8) The team’s earliest goal was in the 2nd minute against BV Teutonia Lanstrop (scored by Annika Billig, who has four goals and four assists of her own this season). The latest came against BV Brambauer 13/45 e.V. in the 91st minute (scored by captain Lisa Klemann, who also scored in the league match against SF Ay Yildiz Derne).

9) Carolin Kaul (461 minutes), Laura Höhl (402 minutes), and Annika Herbig (337 minutes) haven’t picked up the minutes that the other goal scorers have, but that hasn’t stopped them from showing up on the scoresheet. Kaul has eight goals (and two assists) while Herbig has seven (with an assist) and Höhl has three (to go with five assists). Additionally, Höhl had the final touch on the only own goal (that Lüner SV put into their own net).

While these 09 stats were about the goals scored, no story about the BVB Frauen should be published without praising the defense. In 1,080 minutes across all competitions, the backline has not conceded a single goal. That’s a testament to goalkeepers Sandra Schröer and Lena Kölmel as well as defenders Glänzer, Klemann, Marina Jung (two goals, one assist), Lilli Prinzen (two goals), Allegra Gerres (one assist), Hanna Schneider (two assists), and Annika Fälker (two assists)—as well as defensive-minded midfielders like Bergmann, Zabell, Kimberly Becker (one goal, two assists) and Lea Rogge-Herper (five assists).
